From Group Miles to Rider Miles: How a Club Tool Became a Platform for Every Rider
From Group Miles to Rider Miles: How a Club Tool Became a Platform for Every Rider
Rider Miles did not start as a platform built for everyone.
It started much smaller.
Before Rider Miles, there was Group Miles, a tool used by Mark Turkel and his motorcycle club, SCRC, to keep track of rides, rider mileage, and club activity.
It was built around a simple problem: motorcycle clubs ride a lot, but keeping track of everything that happens around those rides can get messy fast.
Who joined the ride?
How many miles did everyone cover?
Who hit a milestone?
What rides were coming up next?
Group Miles gave the club a better way to keep that information organized.
Built Around Real Club Riding
Group Miles was not created from a boardroom idea.
It came from actually being part of a motorcycle club and seeing how group rides worked in the real world.
There were ride captains organizing routes, members joining events, riders reaching mileage milestones, and clubs trying to keep everyone informed and connected.
The system helped bring those pieces together.
Instead of relying only on spreadsheets, messages, posts, and memory, the club had one place to keep track of its riding activity.
And over time, something became clear.
The problem Group Miles was solving was not unique to one club.
From One Club to a Bigger Idea
Other motorcycle clubs were dealing with the same challenges.
Riders also wanted better ways to keep track of their own motorcycles, mileage, maintenance, and ride history, even if they were not part of a club.
That opened the door to something bigger.
Group Miles was redeveloped into Rider Miles, expanding the original idea beyond one organization and making it useful for individual riders and motorcycle clubs everywhere.
The platform kept the club-focused features that made Group Miles useful, while adding more tools for riders themselves.
Rider Miles Today
Today, Rider Miles gives riders a place to keep their motorcycles, rides, mileage, maintenance, and riding history together.
Clubs can use Rider Miles to:
- Create rides and events
- Manage RSVPs
- Track member activity and mileage
- Recognize rider milestones
- Keep ride information in one place
Individual riders can use it too, even without joining a club.
They can add bikes to their Garage, keep track of rides and mileage, follow maintenance schedules, and build a history of their time on the road.
And Rider Miles is free for riders and clubs.
The Original Idea Is Still There
Even though Rider Miles has grown beyond Group Miles, the original purpose has stayed pretty much the same.
Make riding easier to organize.
Help riders keep track of the miles they put in.
Give clubs better tools to stay connected.
And make sure the rides, milestones, and memories do not just disappear once everyone gets home.
What started as a solution for one motorcycle club has become a platform built for the wider riding community.
Built by Riders, for Riders
Rider Miles grew because the need was already there.
Group Miles solved a problem Mark and his club were experiencing firsthand. Rider Miles took that same idea and opened it up to everyone else.
Whether you ride solo, with a few friends, or as part of a motorcycle club, Rider Miles gives you one place to keep track of the road behind you and the rides still ahead.
